Dhumavati Yantra
Dhumavati is the seventh form of Dasha Mahavidyas.
She is different from other forms of goddesses. She is not pleasant looking, widow and represents all the painful and burdensome aspects of life. She is a widow who ate her own husband in hunger and later smokes burst out so she is known as the beholder of smoke. Her name Dhuma- means Smoke.
It is easy to glorify and admire the positive aspects of life but there are some dark aspects of life like hunger, desire, poverty, unhygienic, soulless environment, etc. She urges one to accept their true self, and overcome external appearances.
Dhumavati is depicted as an old, ugly, pale lady with old, dirty cloth around and no jewellery. She rides a chariot without any horse and emblem crows. She holds a winnowing basket in one hand and a boon conferring gesture and knowledge giving gesture. She is kind-hearted and bestows boons.
Dhumavati sadhana is done to overcome poverty and diseases.
